Woodland Hills Area Schools
Woodland Hills’ elementary and secondary students are served by
Tuscaloosa City Schools. Thanks to recent restructuring of all Tuscaloosa City Schools, our children’s schools are now conveniently located in east Tuscaloosa.
Grades K – 5 attend Arcadia Elementary located on Arcadia Drive about 1.7 miles from Woodland Hills. Arcadia Elementary offers an excellent after-school program until 5:30 PM.
Grades 6 – 8 attend Eastwood Middle School located on Buttermilk Road about 3 miles from Woodland Hills. This is a new facility that was opened in January 2003.
Grades 9 – 12 attend the Paul W. Bryant High School which opened in August 2003. Bryant High is located across the street from the new Eastwood Middle School off Buttermilk Road.
The Tuscaloosa Board of Education is elected by BOE Districts. Woodland Hills is in BOE District 6. Our District representative on the Board is Marvin Lucas. Marvin Lucas can be reached via email at Mlucas@tusc.k12.al.us.
Local and State Government
The City of Tuscaloosa is located in West Alabama on the Black Warrior River, 57 miles southwest of Birmingham. Tuscaloosa is the county seat of 1,340 square mile Tuscaloosa County, which also includes the municipalities of Northport and Brookwood. The City’s 114,288 inhabitants (2024) represent nearly half of Tuscaloosa County’s 241,212 population.
Tuscaloosa has a mayor-council form of municipal government. The mayor is elected at-large by all city voters, while voters in each district elect the seven district council members. Mr. Walter Maddox is the Mayor.
