Incorporated in 1957, most of our lots were built by the end of the 70s, although a few houses continue to be built, the most recent in 2007. You can learn more about the history of Woodland Hills at the History tab above.

Thanks to the long-term attractiveness of our neighborhood, the architectural styles vary from Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired to traditional Cape Cod. Ours is an older, stable, and established neighborhood, known for its well built homes, landscaped yards, diverse neighbors, and great location. We are poised for growth and prosperity.

After our trees (many of our oaks, poplars, and hickories have been around for over 100 years) we are also blessed with location, location, location. We are only a few minutes to schools, churches, shopping, theaters, recreation, the University of Alabama, Shelton State Community College, Stillman College, DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa Public Library, downtown Tuscaloosa, and more.

Above all, the best folks in Tuscaloosa have chosen to live in Woodland Hills! We are a racially diverse community, we are young and old, we are families and retired couples, we are business owners and nurses, professors and contractors, doctors and automobile manufactures, pharmacists and elementary teachers, we are a cross-section of the life and economic engine of Tuscaloosa.

Added Value

All of this adds up to strong and consistently improving property values. The current value of the neighborhood homes is a result of careful planning. As they were built, all the homes were required to be of a certain value and subject to architectural control by a committee. Care in the original development has paid off in the long run for the homeowners.

The Woodland Hills Improvement Association, Inc., now doing business as the Woodland Hills Neighborhood Association, was originally incorporated in 1983.
